A week in Scotland and of course we had to do this peak.
We leave the Glen Nevis Youth Hostel which has the path up to Ben Nevis right on its doorstep.
The route, let's say "official" and called Pony track, reaches the Lochan an t-Suidhe but we ignore it and shorten it by a more mountainous path that reconnects with the official one when the Allt na n-Urchaire ravine is crossed or " RedBurn".
Then the road makes big turns in the form of a Z but we go straight along a mountain path of loose gravel in sections and that goes directly up close to the Red Burn on its left.
We reach the last Z and we begin to see the different jitos or piles of giant stones that will accompany us to the top, in an area that softens quite a bit.
Spectacular views, shoot some photos and go down. In the case of the return we use more for scrambles than to go up.
iconic mountain. We were very lucky with the weather because it is not usually normal, in fact we advanced the climb to the afternoon when we arrived due to the weather and we were right, since the next day dawned with rain and fog.
It does not have any technical complications except for the unevenness. Rise hard from minute one. Wide path, one meter more or less, and paved. In staggered sections. Lots of people going up and down.
In winter the climb will be another story.
