Itinerary description
The first part of the trail is tarmac, you arrive at the Refuge Honeria.
The route soon changes to a trail, and for approx 20km steadily climbs up to 1400m in a heavily wooded area, before descending down towards Bossòst for the start of the second trail.
This trail climbs up to just over 2000M and is a very nice and easy trail to follow, as we are now in the period of transhumance the season for moving cattle to the high pastures, we did encounter a few delays, and sometimes they just do not want to move!!
Found a nice lunch stop at 2000M, and enjoyed the peace and warm weather for a while.
The trail descends to 1400M. We exit the trail near the large ski resorts of Baqueira Beret, a few km on tarmac climbing up to aprox 1900M, then join the Montgarri trail. A very easy and popular trail.
The refuge is open all year and is normally open for refreshments. In our case a cold drink!!

We descended into Esterri D’Aneu to find a Hostel for the night. Hostel Vall D’Aneu is good, with secure gated parking for the bikes. Fuel is also available in Esterri.
