Itinerary description

Gravel roads and trails, open to motorized traffic.
Some short parts of unknown status (wide road in the forest which gets narrow in the middle)
Some short parts in the woods(single tracks or small climbs) are technical - all easy to bypass.

Trail done with BETA 390 enduro
It could be done with medium/big trails on enduro as well under conditions to go around the technical points, single tracks and stay on wide gravel roads. Tracks in the woods require enduro type tyres (mud/ruts).

I followed most of this route on Saturday 20th May 2020 and would like to offer my thanks to its creator.

We rode in a group of two with myself on a Honda CRF250L Rally (with brand new 50/50 tires) and my friend on a KTM 1090 Adventure (on essentially road going tires). I would consider myself a competent enduro rider while he is a relative novice.

While the weather on the day was good, the ground was quite wet following recent rains, so the ground was quite soft/muddy in some places, especially in the forests.

The first half of the route was great fun and was largely following nice open, gravel roads as we left Geneva. Prior to entering the forests around Chilly, my friend made the decision to head for tarmac, which turned out to be a good choice! In the forests, the routes got considerably more difficult and I would definitely not recommend anybody on a big bike trying these unless the conditions were perfect and they had decent skills. I made it through and had good fun, but it was definitely not easy.

However, if you are in a good group and on smaller enduro bikes, you will have a blast in these forests.

Nice trail done with a DR650. I would recommend dry weather when doing this 🐱

We rode part of the track (Challex to Vannecy) on Sunday August 14th on a Yamaha Ténéré 700 and BMW F850GS. In the morning it had rained after a long dry spell and the dirt tracks were slippery. Part of the track near Challex goes down a grassy field track, but this is only a very short part and can be avoided by a tiny detour. The forest trail parallel to the D 76b north of Pougny is a single track with many large fallen trees blocking the way without direct options to go around them. We back tracked and managed to rejoin the track a bit further up. The single track there had a few deep narrow ruts. The wooded section can easily be skipped as there are tarmac roads nearby. The track through the fields near Prévy is nice, but when coming down the ground can be slippery when wet. The trail is a nice one, but best ridden on a dry underground. As always, it is better to be with multiple people to help out when you get stuck.

J’ai fait la trace aujourd’hui, elle est plutôt roulante et sans difficulté. Prévoir des pneus TT si c’est boueux. Un accès à un chemin et fermé par un particulier, mais on fait facilement le détour pour retrouver la trace.

Thanks for the track, can we do it on the opposite direction?
