Itinerary description
Some easy off-road tracks, ideal for first timers and good in the wet as they do not get muddy.
The climb up starts on from Marenola on tarmac, becoming dirt shortly past rifugio pornito. There tracks comprise grit and rock and even when the leaves have fallen provide good grip.
Towards the top you can take a track to take you down behind the Statua del Cristo Ridentore which is a little more challenging, particularly in the wet, as an out and return.
On the return, not long before the tarmac recommences I turned north into the valley marked Fraile. This looked very promising as a route out to the North but the track became quite rutted with water channels and increasingly steep. I imagine that this will certainly be passable in the dry but the conditions for me were anything but and I elected to return rather than risk regretting it. Next time I may approach this from the North to prove I have an exit if it’s not possible to climb back up this route.

Ciao, pensi che l'uscita che citi verso nord poi si colleghi ad Esperia?
Yes. You can exit towards Esperia but not return.
It would be possible to exit going North using the most right of the 2 spurs in dry weather but there are some very steep but short descents that you would not be able to get back up on anything less than an Enduro bike, and even then you'd be challenged. On a later date I approached from Esperia and was able to walk up to the track shown here.
I see, thanks for the tip.
I would like to try it riding my Husqvarna TE511.
I will let you know if I succeeded and if so I will share the GPX track 😉👋
