They are building up the area again after the disastrous storm and flooding in October 2020. After building a temporary road the specific area is approachable with traffic restrictions and regulations (see last new picture). Some new pictures added. Camping Municipal in Tende has been reopened.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2021

The area around Limone Piemonte in Italy and the Roja valley in France has been severely hit by a strong storm called "Alex" in October 2020. This washed away roads, houses, villages etc. creating huge damages. The tunnel of Tenda has been abandoned and is closed, on the French side a huge piece of mountain has been washed away. So either skip the area or be ready to huge time consuming detours.

UPDATE JULI 2016

Die straße ist für den verkehr mit kraftfahrzeugen geschlossen an montag und dienstag jeder woche. Der zugang zwischen den orten "Le Shuttle" (Briga Alta) und "Cabanaira" (Limone Piemonte) ist zu einer bewegung genehmigung unterworfen. Täglich genehmigungen sind direkt an festen checkpoints zu den orten oben erwähnt ausgegeben. Sie unterliegen die zahlung in bar einer Summe als beitrag zu den kosten der verwaltung und wartung der straße. Stellen Sie für das Jahr 2016 mit pkw : € 15,- und für motorräder und Quads : € 10,- pro tag. Täglich erlaubt sind begrenzt auf maximal 80 autos und 140 motorräder und quads. Die Öffnung der straße für den verkehr wird von den kommunalen gesetzen der jeweiligen gemeinde kreuzung formalisiert werden. Es ist geplant am Samstag, 2. Juli 2016.

The road is closed to traffic motor vehicles on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week.
Access between the localities "Le Shuttle" (Briga Alta) and "Cabanaira" (Limone Piemonte) is subjected to a movement permit. UPDATE JANUARI 2015

Seit 13 Oktober 2014 ist der nordabschnitt der LGKS oder Via del Sale (vom Passo di Tanarello bis Limone) nach viele Monate wieder eröffnet wegen bauarbeiten. Die Europäische Union hat nach angaben der ortsansässigen € 1.875.000,- für die instandsetzung investiert. Die Strecke hat jetzt leider jeglichen anspruch verloren und gleicht nun einer glatten schotterstraße, die nahezu mit jedem fahrzeug befahren werden kann. Nun ist hier mit verstärktem verkehrsaufkommen zu rechnen, also vorsicht an den vielen unübersichtlichen ecken.

Since the 13th of Oktober 2014 the northern section of the LGKS or Via del Sale is reopened (from Passo di Tanarello to Limone) after many months of reconstruction. The European Union has, according to the locals, invested € 1.875.000,- for the repairments. The once mythical track looks now unfortunately a bit like a smooth dirt road that can be travelled with virtually any vehicle so expect increased traffic and be very careful of the many blind corners as well.

Dal 13 ottobre 2014 la sezione settentrionale della LGKS (Via del Sale) viene riaperto (Passo di Tanarello per Limone) dopo molti mesi a causa di costruzione. L'Unione europea deve, secondo la gente del posto a € 1.875.000,- investiti per la riparazione. La pista è ormai purtroppo perso ogni pretesa e ora sembra una strada sterrata liscia che può essere percorsa con qualsiasi veicolo. Ora, questo è probabile che con l'aumento del traffico, quindi fate attenzione dei tanti angoli ciechi.

Von den vielen Militarstrasschen, welche Mussolini-Italien zwischen den beiden weltkriegen an seinen grenzen gebaut hat, ist die Ligurische Grenskammstraße (LGKS oder Via del Sale) mit run 60 km die langste und abgelegenste. Sie verlauft von der Colla Melosa zum Tendapass zumeist in hohenlagen zwischen 1900 und 2100 meter auf der ostliche kammlinie des oberen Royatales, beruhrt mit dem abstecher zum Monte Saccarello 13 hochpunkte und fuhrt auf kurzeren abschnitten auch uber Franzozischen territorium. In der vergangenheit diente sie deshalb nicht selten als schmugglerpfad aber heute wird sie hauptsachlich von Alpinteressenten, Waldarbeitern und naturlich Allrad, ATV, Enduromotorrader und mountainbiker benutzt. Ein muss für den Enduro- und All-Road motorradfahrer unter uns und mit mindestens zwei motorräder gefahren werden ist sehr empfehlenswert.
Dem festen Unterbau, konzipiert fur geschutz und munitionstransporte, ist die befahrbarkeit bis in die gegenwert zu verdanken. Der ungewohnliche strassenzug wird aber nur noch bescheiden unterhalten, nur die grossten schaden werden jedes jahr behoben. Aus diesem grund ist von einer befahrung der kammstrecke, insbesondere des abschnittes Col des Seigneurs - Col de la Boaire, mit normalen Pkw abzuraten. Sowohl am Col de la Boaire als auch ostlich des Forts Central waren im 2009 massive sperrschranken aufgestellt, die bei verlegung der trasse durch geroll oder schnee geschlossen werden. Der dazwischenliegende abschnitt ist in der zeit von 1 oktober bis 30 juni grundsatzlich gesperrt ; ansonsten kann mann die dort angebrachten fahrverbotsschilder als haftungsausschluss verstehen. Ausgesprochenen "flachlandfahreren" sei emphlolen, auf dem beifahrersitz platz zu nehmen, denn im durchschnitt lasst sich die grenzkamm-hohenstrasse mit SG 3-4 beurteilen, sie weist aber auch mehrere abschnitte SG 4-5 auf.

Parmi les nombreuses anciennes routes militaires qui-Italie de Mussolini entre les deux guerres mondiales se est construit à ses frontières, la route de la frontière ligure (Via del Sale) à courir 60 km, la plus longue et la plus éloignée. Il procède de la Colla Melosa à Tendapass principalement en hauteur entre 1900 et 2100 mètres sur la ligne de crête de la haute vallée de la Roya-Orient, touché avec le détour pour Mont Saccarello ook et conduit à des tronçons plus courts sur le territoire français. Avec les motos lourdes vous pouvez vous attendre difficultés au Col de la Boaire partie due aux sections raides et gros rochers (seconde photo). Dans le passé, il a servi comme le chemin de contrebandiers ou au pourquoi mais aujourd'hui il est utilisé par Alpintourists Principalement, les travailleurs forestiers et bien sûr VTT à quatre roues, Enduro motocyclistes et les vététistes. Un must pour l'Enduro et All-route des motocyclistes parmi nous et être entraîné avec au moins deux motos est hautement recommandable.

Tra le molte vecchie strade militari-che l'Italia di Mussolini tra le due guerre mondiali ha ottenuto costruito ai suoi confini, il percorso confine ligure a correre 60 km (Via del Sale), la più lunga e la più remota. Si procede dal Colla Melosa per Tendapass soprattutto in altezza tra il 1900 e 2100 metri sulla linea di cresta del Upper East Roya valle, toccato con la deviazione al Monte Saccarello OOK e porta a brevi sezioni sul territorio francese. Con le moto pesanti si può aspettare difficoltà al Col de la Bóaire parte a causa di tratti ripidi e grandi rocce (seconda immagine). In passato è servita come percorso di contrabbandieri o in conseguenza ma oggi è usato da Alpintourists Principalmente, i lavoratori forestali e, naturalmente, ATV a quattro ruote, Enduro Motociclisti e amanti della mountain bike. Un must per l'Enduro e All-road motociclisti tra noi e essere guidato con almeno due moto è altamente raccomandabile.
