Itinerary description
Keep tyre pressure up way above average to avoid punctures is essential. First quarter of trail is easy hard-pack rock pistes.....second quarter is loose pack with rock trails with the odd section of sand.
Half way along this trail it gets difficult if you're riding a big trailie. BMW Boxer GS's will be exposed to breaking rocker covers and ripping off sump guards when they are dropped. Think again if you're riding a GS Boxer for this trail, you will be lifting it up frequently in the heat. Not suited to this type of off roading IMO.
Two sections of loose round-rock climbs 200-300m each. Once started keep riding and let the suspension work whilst looking ahead. Sometimes it's easier to do a U turn and take another run up than to try and start on the loose rock, if you falter. At the end there's a steeper climb with rock flat slab to the LHS and loose rock in the RHS. A run up will assist. There's a couple of dry river bed crossings to navigate also. Last section is back to normal hard pack.
Check side/centre stand bolts and sump guard after finishing.
Eat at Tissint half way along the only main street or where you exit piste....coke stop opposite. Then road ride to Tata thereafter(approx 1 hours ride). No fuel in Tissint apart from a back street workshop selling same. This is one of my favourite trails due to it's difficulty. Fuel in Tata.
NB Ignore GPS times...allow a full day-light day if one leaves Zagora

Hi, Looks good, what bike did you have please ?

All the best
Thanks for reply.
Great route / pics too.
It says time 17hours, is that the time to accomplish the route?
Hi Chris
From memory we had lunch in the town then onto the trails after leaving Zagora....a rider had a puncture (keep tyres hard!!) and we also had a delay for getting fuel at the next village ( often the fuel station at Foum Zguid runs out of fuel) and then ride on until an hour before dark and to complete the ride the next day. The gps has probably noted the over night stay once I saved the route.
Anyway...a days fluid ride is normal even with the tedious sections of loose rock, normal meaning leaving Zagora early, lunch stop at Foum Zguid to a coke break at Tissint and to hotel via tarmac at Tata late afternoon.
A few kms before Tissint is now graded.
I'll edit the above description to explain :)
Any thing else by all means just ask.
All the best
Cheers, the overnight stop explains a lot. C.
Enjoy...
I head back again in Sept.
:)
