Itinerary description
Woke up early 4:45AM and left home with drizzling rain. Met Sergio Telles and Daniel. Entered the Huasteca Park with over +50 route bicycle riders staring their morning work outs. Fresh temperature prevailed in the usually desert hot Huasteca trail, all three riders showed the first hour of riding a constant and similar rhythm helping us all stay together and avoiding unnecessary resting stops, this was key to arriving at a record 10 hour time to our destination. Stopped at La Herradura restaurant where we met a group riding sports cars. Headed into the Cuauhtémoc trail and encountered a locked gate where I found 15 yards from it a tight opening within the bush enough to cross a motorcycle and not have to return, that section is where I had my accident 14 years ago (head injury and broken forearm). We had then Mostos sandwiches in Derramadero and continued flawlessly all the way to Cinco and the famous singing bush (also known as the Chicken Choice exit to the highway, we took the real men route to the aggressive rocky Mountain Pass). Other trips here have been more moist and with greener scenery, this time drought and heavy trail dust prevailed. Sergio dropped the bike in the last mountain summit incline without mayor issues and we finally reached the Parras Highway at Abrevadero at 3:45 PM (record time for this route)!!
