Itinerary description
This is a history lesson up close and personal. Most of the road is very well maintained until about two or three miles from Delamar proper when the road turns particularly bad. Only vehicles with very good tires should attempt this trail.
The Delamar Gold mine operated for about 15 years from about 1900 to 1915 and was eventually shutdown because so many miners were dying because of the dust. Although the town war originally built of wood, many homes and businesses were made of stone that was carefully and accurately fitted together. All that is left is the stone ruins which are quite remarkable.
There were approximately 3000 people in the town during it's heyday. Plan on spending some time looking thru the ruins.
