Itinerary description
ROUTE:
Samburu Town - Kinango Town -Marere Junction -Tiribe Town -Shimbahills Town -Mwambungo Junction - COLOBUS CONSERVATION- ALLIANCE SAFARI BEACH RESORT.
DETAILS:
- Ride starts from Colobus Conservation Trust to Kwale, then Shimbahills National Park, Kinango to Samburu.
- At Samburu we meet up with the Nairobi and/or Mombasa Team
- All members ride from Samburu to Kinango. Here, refueling can be done, tyre pressure changes, drinks and snacks etc.
- From Kinango is pure offroad through Shimbahills Park, then Marere Junction, down to Tiribe, Lukore, Shimbahills, Mwambungo all the way to Alliance Safari Resort.
ROAD CHARACTERISTICS:
- It is Tarmac from Diani to Kwale. Easy and smooth
- Dirt road from Kwale through the Shimbahills National Park to Kinango. Moderate difficulty with Corrugations and potholes. Road works on going. Conditions may be different in February
- From Kinango it is tarmac: well marked bumps and visible signage.
CAUTION/WARNINGS:
- There are potholes on the tarmac in very peculiar places. Very high chance of damage to motorcycle. Keep speed between 80-100kph.
- Watch out for Kids, livestock and unruly bodabodas.
- There are moderate to heavy crosswinds.
>> From Kinango, it is dirt: mixed Corrugations, Sand washes/traps, loose murram, rocks, deep rills and gullys too and ditches. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL.
