Itinerary description
An offshoot of Boxcar Cove that will also get you right on the water. Considering how much traffic this area seems to get, the roughness of the road surprised me. Since it also follows a wash the abundance of deep, loose gravel was to be expected but there are some rock outcroppings and even a small ledge in the center section. Piece of cake on a trail bike but I'm guessing anyone who has taken a regular car down here looking for a private picnic spot has been a little disappointed. The route itself is OK. Nice scenery but no side trails and all the good spots will be taken unless you get there early. In fact, I didn't get any pictures near the water because every spot was taken and I didn't want to be a dork-bomb and invade people's privacy. One word of caution: All of the trails in this area that get you to the water are very popular camping spots and people love to use old pallets as campfire fuel. It is advisable not to ride anywhere near old fires as there will be burnt out nails scattered about.
