Itinerary description
Plan your hike well and start a bit early. We left Beirut at 8 am on the day after the storm. Just be prepared for some ice on the road.
Park your car near the Sohat water plant and begin your ascent. The good thing with snowshoeing is that you don't have to follow a specific trail, just know your direction. It is a difficult way up till you arrive at Tele Liban Station (Mount Kneiseh) but the view is simply amazing.
On a clear day you can see the Mediterranean sea and Beirut. You have the "Jabal ElCheikh", the Bekaa valley, the Chouf Natural Reserve, Metn Area, Keserwan and Mount Sannine ... you wouldn't know where to look. Prepare yourself for lot of pics.
Once you arrive at Tele Liban Station you will have a breathtaking 360° view. You have reached the highest point in your hike (1550 m). Have lunch and enjoy the scenery.
From there you start going down, sometimes sliding on those slopes like a 5 years old kid. Take the North side of Mount Falougha towards the artificial lakes.
By far, till now, it is the best snowshoe hike I have ever made in Lebanon.
We reached back our cars right on time, minutes before sunset.
It is a difficult hike but definitely worth it.
Enjoy and keep it clean !!!
