Itinerary description
<<< English follows >>> Ruta con raquetas de nieve. Paradoja, ¿no? <<< English >>> Route with snowshoes. We started in the cross-country ski resort of Somport. The previous week there was a big snow and there are more than a meter of snow. We started following the snowshoes track of the station. The use of that track costs 5 euros (2015) but if you go with a guide then it's for free. Not a very cold day. The French part of the route is unusual in that it is natural park and the grouse is the star. There are areas with completely restricted passages because there are grouse's nests. By contrast, just across the border, the noisy ski resort of Candanchú is located. There is also the area where military target practice are made. Paradox, right? The route itself is not complex or tired. It goes across between pine and beech, as usual in this area of the Pyrenees. At one point we tested our ARVA transceivers, burying them to simulate a search for avalanche victims. The truth is that very simple device to use and reliable. The downside is the price, they are still expensive. This time Yolanda joined us. Our guide is our friend Paco, from Pirinea Nordic. Highly recommended, is a great guy.
