Itinerary description
Snowshoeing - Loop from Colle del Lys to Colle Portia via Mount Arpone.
Within easy reach from Torino, the Lys pass connects the Susa and the Viu' valleys. The moderate elevation makes it a typically accessible destination for families with kids eager to play with a sled on safe slopes. Not many though on the last useful day before another two-month lockdown, during which we won't be able to cross the city limits.
Estimated snowpack of about one meter (40"). Trodden until Mount Arpone, summit of the day, requiring crampons rather than snowshoes which became necessary thereafter.
Crisp sunny day below freezing temperature.
