Snowshoe hike done in March, at the peak of the winter season.
Take the chair lift to the top of Mount Nuolja (190 SEK per person 2019) - basically the only way to reach the start of this beautiful trail in winter , then follow the trail that descends in the valley for about 4 km before turning back towards Abisko along the Kungsleden. This hike is quite easy, but either snowshoes or cross-country skis are necessary, as the snow can be quite deep in some parts, and you don’t want to ruin the paths for the skiers making asteroid-size holes with your boots 😉 The only “tricky” passage is a river crossing, which may be feasible or not depending on ice conditions. The crossing can be avoided by taking a detour a few hundred metres before, so you can easily go to the river, check the ice and then go back if not safe.
