Itinerary description

This was a 3.62 mile loop on top of Vail Pass. Each person must pay a $6 day use fee. Parking is on the west side of the I-70 Vail Pass Rest Area Exit and we walked across the highway to the trailhead on the east side of the rest area. The trail climbs east from about 10,600' to about 10,800', then drops down into the Corral Creek drainage (parallel to and sheltered from I-70) and a gradual descent for about 2.5 miles to about 10,400'. We turned back under the I-70 westbound lane, then followed the bike path for a gradual ascent back to our cars. This should be a good trail for early season snow.
