Itinerary description

Il Monte Serra delle Ciavole è situato a nord del Serra Dolcedorme, dominando sul versante sud il Piano di Acquafredda, a sud-ovest il Piano di Pollino e a seguire quello di Toscano, ad ovest e nord-ovest la Piana del Pollino.

Sul versante est e sud-est, ai piedi dei ripidi fianchi del monte, si estende l’immenso Bosco della Fagosa.

La cresta si sviluppa da sud-est verso nord-ovest ed è divisa dalla Serra di Crispo dalla Grande Porta del Pollino, dove si possono vedere le "spoglie mortali" del Grande Patriarca Zu Peppu, il grande pino loricato simbolo del Parco Nazionale del Pollino, dato alle fiamme la notte tra il 19 ed il 20 ottobre 1993.
