Comment : Last time I didn't take my snowshoes and the ridge of the Chasseron had knee deep snow, this time I took them and saw no snow worth using them until Pré de l'Haut Dessus but then I was really happy I did otherwise I'd have turned back, most of the ascent to Risel and the turnback point at 1644m and descent until the road under Grotte à Chenuz was off-trail with 10-30cm of snow 6.4km on snowshoes 37% of the hike with no idea what was under the snow, 1st time there too.
Weather forecast lied to me I expected 8 hours of sun I got like 3 minutes and all of it when I was under the ridge and entering the forest, the 1644m top was very cold due to wind and no sun, my smartphone shutdown because of the cold.
