J29 ~ Wednesday 13/01 - Long Island - Thompson Bay (Salt Pond) 11.2 nautical
Overcast becoming threatening, light drizzle the last hour of sailing, temperature 26 °, wind E, 8/10 knots then SE 10 knots, sea beautiful.
We land under the sun after breakfast. Simms is a large, scattered hamlet, so there is not much to see as this village is Long Island's oldest. We take our time to witness the arrival of the ferry, curious animation.
Back on board while the sky becomes dark making fear a grain. Navigation under genoa, the last hour to the engine the wind refusing. Mooring in Thomson Bay, deep sheltered bay of the gale of northeastern gales announced, we are half a dozen to have gained this shelter.
J30 ~ Thursday 14/01 Long Island - Thompson Bay (Salt Pond)
Menacing sky, heavy clouds, morning rain and strong NE wind, 18 knots, temperature 23 °, flat sea.
It rained hard yesterday at the beginning of the night filling the annex well which allowed us a shower and shampoo come well. Time does not make you go down, so read ... Some exits in the cockpit when the sun makes an appearance.
