J24 ~ Friday 08/01 The Exumas - Great Exuma - George Town 2.2 Nautical
Blue sky almost clear, temperature 30 °, wind O 2 knots, flat sea.
We raise the anchor to cross the lake and come to moor in the small marina of George Town. It is almost empty despite its old style with wooden pontoons but at 2 USD per foot (electricity included), it's expensive and almost all sailboats wet in front of or on the other side of the body of water!
In the late morning, ride on the land to discover the village and passage to the Exuma Market for a first replenishment.
George Town, the capital of the island, is a peaceful, loop-shaped town, whose only street encircles a small lake, Lake Victoria. Here life goes by slowly. The houses stand on the hillside, shaded by coconut palms.
We stayed in George Town for several days ...
