J20 ~ Monday 04/01 The Exumas - Lee Stocking Island 18.4 nautical
Veiled skies, temperature 26 °, wind 0 10/14 knots, turning N in the afternoon with heavy black clouds, beautiful sea.
We left our anchorage early in the Exuma Sound, so east side of the islands for a nice edge at the good walk at 5/6 knots while some sailboats are moving in the same direction (three or four go to George Town ) but an American will follow us to our nice anchorage (5 chests) in front of the Caribbean Marine Research Center.
We did not land but we were joined by three other sailboats while another was already there.
D21 ~ Tuesday 05/01 The Exumas - Lee Stocking Island
Overcast and low ceiling, it rained repeatedly, temperature 16 °, the wind is re-passed SE, 12/14 knots.
Since strong wind is expected in the evening, we have not moved during this sad day. Household, maintenance of the boat, reading ... In the late afternoon the wind forcibly South-West passing west in the evening rising to 20 knots (25 knots in gusts).
J22 ~ Wednesday 06/01 - The Exumas - Lee Stocking Island
Overcast but sunny, temperature 28 °, wind SW, then W 16/18 knots, rough sea.
The four sailboats that had been wet here since the day before yesterday have left us. Reading session, then in the beginning after, as the wind has dropped, we descend to the ground. The marine research center funded by Americans had to be important, the buildings are numerous, basins were built, a track that takes the place of the route was drawn, and even an airplane runway was built and yet everything is abandoned !
At the end of the afternoon the wind began to grow under the effect of a storm.
18 h 45: 30 knots of wind (42 knots in gusts), anchor wetting and engine running to relieve the mooring in the trunk, it only remains to wait.
19 h: the wind returns to 27/28 kts
7:30 pm: it's over!
Big moment of tension of course! I experienced such an adventure in Croatia in front of Korcula on a family cruise.
Two motorboats will come to shelter at 9 pm ...
