Aswan...Day 4
With a roll and a piece of fruit, for not having been able to make a proper dinner, due to the events that occurred on the carriage ride,
Riding a carriage through the streets of Aswan
we disembarked once more, now as expert cruise passengers,

taking accommodation in the minibus that will take us to our next appointment on the Island of Philae. The short journey takes us to a pitch-dark area, where a burst of lights from the minibus reveals a camouflaged police post, which we can clear after checking. Immediately, in the midst of an explosion of light and sound, we arrive at the jetty, where vendors, tourists and sailors are gathering with great noise. An incessant gibberish, extremely dizzying, surrounds us while we try to follow the guide, who is discussing trying to occupy a boat. Up to three changes of ship we make, before being able to be transported to the island. Without falling overboard or opening our mouths in protest, abandoned to our fate, we tried to penetrate the enveloping darkness, discovering distant lights, other ships and the nearby Aswan Dam. Rocks, islets and the sound of the water breaking against the keel enliven us in the interim before landing. We have not had the opportunity to receive explanations about what we are going to see, nor instructions on what we have to do. Gently led like lambs to the slaughterhouse, or to graze in the meadow, depending on whether we are optimistic or not, we occupy the indicated positions before the chain, which, impeding the passage, barely contains the mob of restless visitors. Some children are gently pushed to the top positions, thinking their parents will see it better that way, whatever it is. But when the chain falls and the crowd advances, they run terrified to save their children from being trampled. An anxious mother trips and falls on a rock, nearly crushing her daughter, drawing blood on her knee. A large square, which serves as a prelude to the Temple of Isis, welcomes us all standing up, the spirits calm down and the performance begins. Lights running through all corners of the monument, coordinated with whispering and suggestive voices, make us fall into the bonds of an ancient tale. The protagonists are: Osiris, god of fertility and resurrection; Seth, god of darkness and violence; and Isis, powerful magician, goddess of motherhood and health, with power over destiny. The suggestive recording reveals little by little the ancestral events. "Filled with envy towards Osiris, who ruled fertile lands, while Seth occupied the barren desert, and jealous of his success among men, he invited him to a party where he deceived him, stating that he would give a coffin to whoever would accommodate himself to measure in it. Inside, she closed the lid after he entered, to throw him into the river where he drowned. Then he dismembered his body into fourteen pieces, which he scattered to prevent them from being found. Isis picked up each piece one by one, and after putting it back together, she returned it to him. life with a loving flutter. They begat their son Horus, but Osiris reigned not again among the living, but among the dead." They finish off the narrative, already comfortably seated, with an imaginary dialogue between Isis and Hathor, sharing flattery and compliments. The group gathered, scattered because of the darkness and the initial chaos, we boarded the felucca, to return to the ship by minibus, ignoring the insistent and already habitual messages of "for one euro, for one euro".

We have to complete the check-out, pay the bill and pack our bags, to be ready the next day at the scheduled time, since it is time for felucca, camel and Nubian village.
