Itinerary description
Long but very flat road - pressed ground run. Ran on an exceptionally warm late December. 360 degree views of whole region. Net run time of 3h 11 min.
There is a 2 km stretch between outskirts of Arth and Walchwill were road has virtually no hard shoulder and there some curves with poor visibility so eye out for incoming traffic.
There is mini peninsula that cuts into the lake (Halbinsel Chiemen) between Risch and Immensee. It is very pretty but it is a hiking trail where you will drop 2 or 3 km-h of speed. The main hiking route bypasses it. You cut probably 1 km bypassing it.
Just generally, worth bordering the lake with the water on your left (and facing incoming traffic). If you do it otherwise you will tend to have some kilometers where you ran sandwiched between incoming traffic, a narrow hardshoulder and a wall. If a car driver makes a mistake there you have nowhere to jump.
