The emirate of Ras al-Khaimah (Arabic: رأس الخيمة) is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. It is the only one of the emirates that did not join the federation in 1971 but the following year (February 11, 1972). It is located on the border with Oman north of the Arabian Peninsula.
