Itinerary description
The coast path has to go in-land here in order to cross the Afon Dyfi at the historic market town of Machynlleth. The Dyfi has always been the natural border between north and south Wales and Machynlleth has the vibrancy of a border town where two cultures meet. The route itself follows the foot-hills of the Tarennau and gives excellent views over the estuary and up the Dyffryn Dyfi. NB Slight detour from the official route to view Llyn Barfog.
