Itinerary description
34th edition of the Trinidad and Tobago Marathon. It started at St. Mary's Junction in Freeport along the Southern Main Road to Chaguanas. It continues East through Montrose then North to Curepe. From there it's West along the Eastern Main Road into Port-of-Spain to the Queen's Park Savannah. There are two starting times, first at 3.30 am then 5.00 am. Running this marathon, like any other, boosts your mental faculties like nothing else. It is said there are two times you win in a marathon, at the starting line and then at the finish. Then you have to go thru the 8 stages of mood swings when running.
The first 2-3 miles Pure Excitement.
Around mile 5 Denial,
Mile 11 Shock, not even half way yet?
Mile 16 Isolation
Mile 19 Despair, everything pains even your teeth.
Mile 22 The wall when your body begins to shut down
Mile 23 Affirmation, I must finish this thing
Mile 26 Elation wow that was ...... great grueling I'm out of gggg's
What I like is the timing in January. It sets up the year for great expectation and you can cross any hurdles. Plus the benefit of accomplishing your New-Year resolutions.
