Itinerary description
Half marathon distance done in 1h38 moving time.
It is very flat and 65-75% asphalted. Roadshoes are fine.
If you are going to walk/run only one side do from west to east so you can enjoy the views of the alps.
To note that the two sides are very distinct experiences. The south side has very good air, it runs between the lake and the railway line. There is virtually no motorised traffic (resident/neighbour access only).
The stretch done on the north side by the road between Sursee and Sempach is safe because it is all on a sidewalk but the air quality is not so good during 4 kilometres as you run very close to the A2 highway (plus you have also a small amount of traffic in the road too).
The more sensible choice for that segment is to take the Wanderweg that is above the highway...I only went through the lakeside as I wanted to see if the terrain is fit for cross skating purposes
