-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------

Ready, usual wake up early to make a nice tour of the city.

It is not easy to find a useful route to the race in this beautiful city, many hills and ups and downs and many traffic lights break the rhythm and complicate it a little, but it is so beautiful that you do not know where to look.

I start from the Dean Village, a delightful village immersed in peace and tranquility, a stone's throw from the center and built on the banks of the river that runs through the city and on its banks runs a beautiful cycle path.

I walk down the slope for a while before leaving and heading towards the center, skirting the gardens of Queen Street Garden (unfortunately it's still too early to get in) and glance at the hill at Calton Hill.

Districando a bit between the traffic lights and the traffic that despite the hour is already intense I can enter the little park of Calton Hill where I go up the hill with the longest and softest lap. I enjoy the view from the National monument of Scotland for a few seconds before going down the steps.

Step in front of the spectacular Balmoral building with its clock tower, across the bridge of the North Bridge and I find myself on the Royal Mile, the main street of the center, the pedestrian course, at this time teeming with Scots to their places of work but that will soon be invaded by tourists from all over the world.

I go up (literally, given the contrary slope) the Royal Mile after having stretched the lap a bit on Cowgate, and arrive up to the Esplanade of the Castle.

From here I descend the steps of the Mound, step in front of the beautiful neoclassical colonnade of the National Gallery before entering the gardens of Princes Street. Empty, but not for long, the first ray of sunshine in fact the inhabitants of Edinburgh and tourists are ready to spread out in an orderly manner on its green lawns and well cared for to chat and eat something.

I leave the Gardens and head to New Town, the neighborhood built at the end of the 19th century at the foot of the Castle and the oldest medieval village of Old Town. Through Charlotte Square, Rose Street and finally I enjoy a bit of descent pointing again towards the course of the Dean Torrent, to retrace the cycle path to home.

I love this city.
