I train a little less than an hour for a short walk to the west side of the financial bay of Manama, Bahrain.
I leave the Bahrain International Hotel (the name is cool ... the hotel does not :). and I head towards the King Faisal highway, luckily the bridge that crosses the pedestrians is not very distant, I cross it and as the sun is still very high I decide to wait to take the photos on the way back.
Once on the other side of the highway I see an amusement park for children, it clearly says "only families", so I don't even approach it, it is not a place for a western alone and in shorts! Luckily I see a zigzagging walk from there, I take it and soon a kind of promenade appears, on the shores of the bay, from where you can see some glamor on the other side, the Reef Island, a kind of private neighborhood.
At the beginning of the promenade, on the right you can see the contrast of the financial bay and the fishing port, where hundreds of artisanal fishing boats, famous in the gulf area, the "Dhows" accumulate.
Mostly manned by foreigners, people from Kerala (India), Bangladesh, for example.
The tour ends quickly, I see some people fishing, some pontoons in ruins and the remains of some type of housing that would be on the shores of the bay, there is still the latrine toilet ...
Many cats are seen on the rocks of the shore, and they smell too!
In a very short time the road ends and I continue on an asphalt track, everything is under construction, or it is missing, something very normal for these sites, everything seems that it is not finished ... It will be because of the sand or because they leave the rubble On the sides, I don't know. Maybe it's just my impression.
Later on, a path of red slabs begins, it can be seen that it was done on purpose for the walkers, the majority that happens to me go by bike, some will come from work, others go for a walk, but few are daring.
So, following the path of red slabs I reach the access bridge to the Reef Island, I try to cross it but when I get to the other side ... it bounces like a pinball, only the residents have access ... so come on, throw pa after!
I turn around, there are no more roads, when I decide to return on my steps to the hotel, I see an American on a bike with his baby, with a wee-ride chair, coming from the other side, I greet him, he greets me and I keep running in the direction in which he was coming, I don't discover much more, a new work with a walkway next to the bay, some fast-food bars and restaurants a little "chic" and little else, the rest all under construction.
I return and take the opportunity to take the photos of rigor, now the sun helps me and the golden hour benefits the thing a bit.
