Itinerary description
Vangviang - Vientiane
Afternoon minivan ride.
Departed 4pm reached destination before 8pm.
Road is very bad. Pavement OK, but traffic is terrible and our driver was overtaking all the trucks without leaving much space for upcoming traffic. At the end we didn't have any accident, but this was definitely the worst bus experience in Laos. Most of minivan and bus drivers before used to be very careful.
It also came to me as a surprise that we stopped 10km short of the city.
We were riding a minivan so i assumed we will go all the way to the minivan stop at the centre of the city. Instead we stopped at a remove bus stop and had to pay additional 20K each for tuk tuk to bring us all to the central vientiane. On the upside, the tuktuk dropped us all at hotels directly and 20K is a good price considering they charge 50K for 4 km ride to the airport if you going alone.
