Grecia Día 10: Areopoli - Githio; Cueva de Diros y cabo Ténaro / Greece Day 10: Areoploi - Githio; Diros cave and cape Tainaro

We continueed in the Peloponnese, visiting its most emblematic places. This day we woke up in Areopoli, where we had breakfast and we went around the town, except for a tall church tower, it does not have much more remarkable places.

From there, after a small trip, we arrived at the Diros caves, where we did a guided tour by boat, since the caves are completely flooded, the truth is that the visit is very worthwhile. When leaving the caves we took a bath in a creek in the same exit.

We continued traveling to the south with a stop in a small town that we thought was pretty, Gerolimenas, with small houses by the sea, very beautiful. On the way we were encountering the typical buildings of the peninsula of Mani, square towers, which make up entire villages, a very curious thing to see. And finally we reached cape Tainaro.

At cape Tainaro we made a short walk to the lighthouse at the southernmost tip of the Greek mainland. In this same place we also saw some Roman ruins and a very ancient temple to Poseidon, completely in ruins. And we also took the opportunity to take a bath in its crystal clear waters, since the heat was very tight and even more so with the walk.

From there we went north along the east coast, to Githio, where we had dinner before leaving to the Dimitrios shipwreck beach near Ghitio, where we stayed overnight.

Seguimos en el Peloponeso, visitando sus rincones y sitios más emblemáticos. Este día nos despertamos en Areopoli, donde desayunamos y nos dimos una vuelta por el pueblo, que salvando una alta torre de iglesia, no tiene mucho mas reseñable.

De ahí tras un poco de carretera llegamos a las cuevas de Diros, donde hicimos una visita guiada en barca, ya que las cuevas están completamente inundadas, la verdad es que la visita merece mucho la pena, en una pasada. Al salir de las cuevas nos dimos un bañito en una cala en la misma salida.

Seguimos viaje al sur con una parada en un pequeño publicito que nos pareció bonito, Gerolimenas, casitas bajas al lado del mar, muy bonito. Por el camino íbamos viendo las construcciones típicas de la península de Mani, torres de planta cuadrada, que conforman pueblos enteros, una cosa muy curiosa de ver. Y por fin llegamos al cabo Ténaro.

En el cabo Tenaro hicimos una pequeña ruta a pie hasta el faro en el extremo mas al sur de la Grecia continental. En este mismo sitio también vimos unas ruinas romanas y un antiquísimo templo a Poseidón, completamente en ruinas. Y también aprovechamos para darnos un baño en sus aguas cristalinas, ya que el calor apretaba mucho y más aun con la caminata.

De ahí ya nos fuimos dirección norte por la costa este, hasta Githio, donde cenamos antes de irnos hasta la playa del naufragio del barco "Dimitrios" cerca de Ghitio, donde hicimos noche.
