I have not seen this tunnel on any trail map nor any of mention in it in any of the rather limited material available. And, it is so accessible. When going up the Estelle Mine Road you will go over a large hill. There is a road/trail off to the left at the top. Keep on going to bottom of hill and look for a road off to the left. This goes right toward the mountain you just came over. There was a fire pit there. Do not follow road back uphill to the right. Walk right up to the mountain past the fire pit and you will see a tunnel. This is a loooooong one going under the mountain you crossed. You can pass the whole way through and out the other side.
This trail is just going from my Jeep to entrance so you would have a map reference as to where the tunnel is.
This is a nice long tunnel and in reasonably good shape for the most part. You know you are close when you feel the blast of cool air! It is NOT visible from Estelle Mine Road. Turn off Estelle Mine Road onto the dirt road. It is definitely worth the trip.
