This was my first attempt to use the app. The Refugio is at 4600 but the GPS did not kick in until I was some way along the road to the volcano. It still works out as around 2000 m elevation which isn`t bad for a day`s walking.
The other user has a better, more direct trace to follow and you will see that I took a wrong turn about 1.6 miles from after where the trace began. The quicker trail is at a small house, where you go left from the main trail - onto their property (although they gave me permission). This is easily overlooked.
There are some places higher up where you will be required to climb with hands, as the route becomes quite steep.
Was looking over old photos the other day - 4 years since our epic day/night on Chachani! Hope you're keeping well, give me a shout if you ever want to head over here to Canada & climb some more volcanoes
