Drive Mt. Pilchuck road for about 1 mile. Pull out into a large gravel parking area. The trail starts on the opposite side of the road.

Arrive at Heather Lake. The trail comes to a Y. Take the trail in either direction, to be lead around the lake on a loop.

This is the location of a day use area, that sometimes doubles as a camping area. Camping at the lake is very limited.
