Is the trailhead to this is Jewel Acres or Riceville Forest?
It’s all private property - but the owners are ok with local usage for access to mountains to sea/parkway which stays away from their houses.
The is an access from the top of Margaret land
That was a bit premature. There is an access at the top of Margaret Lane and at the top of laurel ridge and the top of Independence
I have hiked from the top of Independence to the MTS Trail /Blue Ridge Parkway but I have never accessed those trails from Margaret Lane - didn’t know they existed. Are they old logging trails?
Some are. Some are just bench cut single track and a handful are a combination of the two.
I live in Riceville Forest. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for recording the trail.
