Itinerary description
The section to fort de la tura does not contain challenging obstacles. But the hairpins are tight, the road is narrow, and the drop off is not for the faint of heart. You can make it most the way up, even in a big rig, it is only the last section that has tight hairpins. I would camp here on day 2-3, if you aren’t looking for facilities.
After that it is a lot of tarmac, col du cenis and the road past col du petit cenis. Both are beautiful routes, but unfortunately camping in the area is strictly forbidden.
The route down the sp212 is limited to vehicles weighing no more than 3.5t, but worth the drive. The end point is a rather uninspiring parking lot where you can spend the night. The creek drowns out the noise from the village, and the road passing by is supposedly quiet at night.
