Itinerary description
As of July 5th 2017 4x4's can make it through the Telkwa Pass, but this trail can change over night, slides, washouts etc.
From Telkwa you follow a logging road to Km marker 1041, roughly 45kms from Telkwa, then the trail begins and goes for 19km where it ends at Km 53 of the Copper River Logging Road.
Along this route from Telkwa you will pass The Microwave trail between km marker 1019 and 1020, Jonas Creek Recreational Site, Blue Lake Campsite, Blue Lake, Top Lake and the view of some glaciers on top of Redemption Peak and the back side of The Seven Sisters mountains.
The trail has many steep hills with loose gravel, creek crossings, big boulders, washouts and brush grown into the trail. For roughly 2 km along side blue Lake the trail is very bumpy with boulders, you will be pretty much at a crawl, but after that section it gets pretty smooth and easy.
From Telkwa to the Terrace Highway through this pass it is 103Km total.

If you take the alternate route you will have to cross this river in a narrow fast spot.

Great route! My iPhone followed it perfectly. All 8 of us loved it! Can’t wait to go all the way to Terrace next time. Fairly high motorized traffic but definitely can’t imagine running into many cyclists. My 4Runner would have definitely fit in! Certainly we were the only human powered group of the day. We’re warned of multiple grizzly sighting but we luckily only saw bear poop. Group kept bear safe so weren’t too worried. Just kept alert and noisy 👍
The group was a mix of known and unknown riders. Middle aged and varying riding abilities and bikes. All loved it though! Anyone can bike and hike the Pass... the biggest factor is how quickly you ride it. But then again it’s so beautiful why would you want to rush???
