Serengeti National Park is a large (13,000 km²) national park in Tanzania, Africa. It is famous for the annual migrations of thousands of wildebeest.
The five big animals of the park, so called by hunters for years, are the lion, the leopard, the elephant, the rhinoceros and the capri buffalo. The park is also the habitat of hyenas, cheetahs, zebras, birds of prey and many other species.
Near the park is the Olduvai Gorge, where many hominid fossils and artifacts have been found. The park borders the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem.
