Itinerary description

We made that track solo without a tour. It is not the usual itinerary. As we are in February and it rained a lot, they don't let us go on the salar from Chuvica. Reason why we directly go to Uyuni.

Some difficult road but we finally managed.

Car: 4runner toyota 4x2
Nice trip !

Refuge Laguna Verde

Here we stop for the first night as the weather was too bad to enjoy the laguna. We could sleep in the car next to the Refuge. Toilets cost 400CLP. Bolivian drivers wait here the people coming from San Pedro the next day. So it can be really noisy around 8AM. Have to pay 150 bob for the entrance to the parc.

Hi dear , did you went alone !?
    Only one car 4x2?

If I follow this trail navigation just with Wikiloc, it’s enough to go to Uyuni and Back to Atacama?

Did you use rented car ?

To left Chile to Bolivia and to enter in Bolivia, my rented car must have any papers or formal authorization?

Did you bring spare gas gallon ?

    Tks a lot!

I intend to do that in first week of January 2024.

    Hello there !

I was with my girlfriend and our 4x2 we bought a few month before in Santiago. Unfortunately, I don't know the possibilities with a rented car.

The wiki trail is quite good so you might be able to follow it as it is.

I brought a spare gas gallon but I hadn't used it afterall. take enough food and water in case you get stuck somewhere.

If you have the choice, take a 4x4 as it was quite crappy trail (almost get stuck sometimes) and you don't want to get stuck at 5000 above sea-level! From time to time, you can see other 4x4 from tourists Tour which gives a bit of security feeling. Ask them for direction in case you hesitate. When you see houses, go and ask if the trail is still good or not. I also recommend to have a few days before around Atacama to get used with the "altura".

    Cheers
