Itinerary description

Our epic 2006 crossing of the Majabat al Koubra (‘Great Emptiness’) right across Mauritania (El Djouf), northern Mali, and southern Algeria all the way to the Libyan border above Jabbaren.
The crossing required filing up in Atar with enough fuel to get us 2000km to Bordj Moktar in Algeria avoiding officials and towns in Mali. Sadly, my Hilux (VW Taro) didn't did not survive the ordeal.
In Mauritania we followed a route originally pioneered by the 1976 Joint Services Expedition using Land Rover 101FCs with powered trailers. See: https://sahara-overland.com/2017/02/14/sahara-west-to-east-crossings/
