Last kilometers until reaching Smara.
Another meeting with the military awaited us and changes of plans for a part of the route, but without major importance.
Worse was finding the "plowed area." Quite a few km crossed by small ditches parallel to each other and perpendicular to the direction of our march, about 50 cm and separated about 10 m between them, which make it impossible to continue. We waste time looking for a way out that finally appears.
The Ga'at MIzuar, the floodplain of the MIzuar River, which the Spanish settlers called the Llano Amarillo, ends up appearing before us. Impossible to tell what it feels like before such a landscape. The photos do not do it justice and it is best to come and see it.
A few more photos and a couple of videos can bring you a little closer. You have them on my Instagram account: https://instagram.com/jierro300?igshid=ZDdkNTZiNTM=
After coming out onto a road, you take the track that goes down the river to a fairly large well and quite crowded by soldiers who, in order not to lose their habit, identify you and entertain you a bit.
A short distance from that point, the track intersects with a road in rather poor condition (it must be quite old) that passes next to a large antenna and its corresponding barracks. Don't go in or you'll lose another half hour with the ID. Follow it around the hill and you will come to the ruins of the old Spanish Hauza barracks.
Nearby you will see a new bridge and a paved track that takes you to the N14. This takes you to the R101 that comes from Tantan and, in a few minutes and after the traffic controls (eye on the radar) and the passport control, you will enter Smara.
After the experience of other years, I thought of staying in some of the campsites in the area, but there is a new hotel in the center (Hotel Amine) that is not bad, and a hot shower and a mattress are appreciated after three days of rails.
