Itinerary description
On Omani Jabal Akhdar mountain, the historical village of Al-Sugra - Sayq plateau is also known as Cliff House hotel locally.
During our holidays in Oman, we visited and stayed on Jabal Akhdar mountain. We hiked few places and did some offroading.
This trail was recorded during our offroading and short hike in and around the Al Suwjara ancient village, which has been renovated and now functions as a cliff top motel with a different experience.
A village deep in the mountains of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
A 4 wheel car needed to get there and careful driving.
At the end of the drive way, you will need to walk 15 minutes down the mountain and cross a wooden swingy bridge to get to the old village in the other side of the mountain.
The old village has been converted to a guesthouse by the villagers. If you book a room there, your bags will be transferred by a Zipline fixed by the villagers.
The guesthouse house is very clean, very beautiful and takes you hundreds of years back. The rooms are either inside or under the mountains. It looks like a story book.
It is so serene, peaceful and isolated. The guesthouse provides dinner and breakfast, therefore, you need to have your own snacks for the rest of the day.
The guesthouse organizes different hikes of ranging difficulties, one of them takes you to the farms and winter houses.
The access road to this village is graded road and is marked on google maps.

Beautiful and authentic Omani village, which in fact turned to be comfortable guest house!
The houses as old as 500 years but very well restored and furnished.
There are good hiking routes all around this place, we were also told there is a cave that can be visited in a walking distance from this village.
The overall view of this place is gorgeous, unforgettable!
But keep in mind that the road to this place is very difficult (about 5 km) and you should be a very confident on the steering wheel in yourself and your car. But if you are - this place is worth to visit!
A breathtaking village hanging on the side of the cliff. Wadi below looks like one worth to explore !
A lost village that has now been completely transformed by the new generation of the people who used to live here. This is no longer a habitat for longer, who have moved to modern nearby residential areas.
Enjoy your time in the wilderness here !!
