Itinerary description
Update October 2013: This is not a single trail. We decided to update the roadmap behind Dajti mountain, or more specifically, the roads that lead to and from Shengjergj. Shengjergj is the major commune in the hinterland of Tirana. For the offroad enthusiast, it is a key location, from where many interesting roundtrips can be made, or further excursions.
It is not suggested, therefore, that you follow the trail in the direction or sequence as indicated. Instead, study the relevant pieces between the indicated waypoints, and decide how to put together your trip.
A to C: This is the asphalt road from Dajti pass downhill to Shengjergj Center.
A to B: This is the "Qafe Molle" road, an old military road, solidly built, but can be rough. Marked as SH54 on old maps. Waypoint B is near the trailhead for climbing Mali me Gropa.
B to D: The continuation of the Qafe Molle road (SH4). Waypoint D is at the fork where the road to Klos begins. See Wikiloc trail #1959594.
D to E to F: Continuation of the Qafe Molle road (SH4) up to the turn off for Bize. See wikiloc # 3197637.
F to G: Continuation of the SH4, in the direction of Labinot and Elbasan.
G to C: Descend from the Bize-Elbasan road (SH4) to Shengjergj. This road has been graded some time ago, but is steep in some places and requires to engage 4 WD when going up.
C to B: From Shengjergj via Shenmeri to the plateau road and trailhead of Mali me Gropa. Very much recommended, with excellent views.
C to E: From Shengjerg to the SH4. The shortest way to Bize. The road has been graded very recently and is in reasonably good condition.
Except for the asphalt road to Shengjergj, we recommend a 4WD vehicle on all other roads, mainly because they are very bumpy and may be subject to erosion. Inquire before travelling in winter or spring, as snow may remain in the shady parts for a long time (also consider that parts of the roads are as high as 1200 meter).
