Itinerary description
The way from Mývátn area (Reykjhalid) to Askja volcano (Öskjuvatn) can be driven only by 4x4 cars. Some rivers are on the way and they need to be crossed to go on.
It takes less than 3 hours to do the driving one way, despite the rivers and lava fields, including a stop at Herdubreid mountain area.
Amazing views of the highlands, desertic lava fields, rivers, mountains. All the way is done following the F88 road and the final leg through the F910.
