Could the route be completed in less than the 5hours 17? I'm planning a route from Merzouga to Zagora in a rental 4x4. Would this route be ok? any surgestions to a slightly quicker route? I'll be going in August
Thanks
Hi,
Our time was 1 day 5 hours and 17 minutes, but we did take it easy, and this did include an overnight stop.
The guide books say it can be done in a day if you start early, but that it's easier over two.
Certainly expect to average no more than 30kph, so allow 8 hours at least.

I did this trail solo during September and there were very few other card. The crossing at ramlia can be very precarious with the fine silted sand and would highly recommend it is done with 2 vehicles and with good GPS. The northern crossing at ramlia can make it confusing to pick up the main zagora trail too. There is a cafe at the start of the ramlia crossing where you can pick up a local guide to help you cross.
Can't see video link, shame as I am riding the piste in May 2024.
I just had a look and it's there in the trail photos. Enjoy the ride.
Thanks for speedy reply, I will take a look.
Yup, found video , very good, true Yorkshire grit. I liked the other cycle route too, always fancied the Leeds - Liverpool canal as I only live in Pontefract, recently retired too, so will do it after Morocc the decorating !
