I followed this trail on a dirt-bike and found it to be an enjoyable area to ride.
The first part of the trail is paved road (N108), but it eventually turns onto a dirt road, into an area of cultivated eucalyptus trees. The area has several inter-connected trails that could be explored.
The trail turns back south and rejoins the N108 briefly. At this point, you have to cross the N108 to dive east, but there is a sharp bend just past the point of joining the road. Extra care is required due to approaching traffic coming around the bend.
The trail turns right, off the N108 and into another area of eucalyptus trees that extend down to the Douro River. Again, there are several inter-connecting trails in the area. I deviated from this trail so that I could explore the tracks that went down to the river (one of them leads to a small pebble beach at the side of the river).
Despite being close to the river, for most of the trail the only view is of the surrounding trees. But when you drive/ride up to the the lookout tower, you are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view over the Douro.
