Itinerary description

This short trail connects the Corkscrew Pass Trail with The California Gulch Trail to Animas Forks. Experienced drivers should have no problems however caution is advised.

Starting from the end of the Corkscrew Pass Trail, the road becomes narrower, rockier and more challenging. Along the shelf road above Cement Creek there are some very narrow a eroded sections with steep dropoffs. Take caution. The visibility however is good for spotting oncoming traffic and the trail being above treeline affords sweeping views.

After 1.1 miles from the start, take a detour to the right off CR-10 to Sunnyside Saddle. From Sunnyside Saddle, flanked with numerous old mines, there's expansive views into the Eureka Gorge, Ross Basin and Lake Emma. Backtrack to the junction with CO-10.

At the junction with CR-10, turn right towards Hurricane Pass. The trail climbs steadily to the pass. There is limited parking at the pass from which there is a spectacular view of Lake Como.

From the pass, the trail ends above Lake Como and the start of the California Gulch Trail.
