Itinerary description

If taking the epic but long unused Anissi canyon route, this is the precise 4km route you probably want to follow through the trackless, stony 4km riverbed to the canyon mouth where it joins Route MA6 from my book (also an epic and now very slow canyon route). Trust me, 2 or 4 wheels, once in the actual riverbed following this tracklog will give the least grief, though where used, the remains of the riverside track to each side are easy enough. Expect to take up to an hour with foot recces, etc.
This was recce'd as part of an Ineos Grenadier vehicle launch event which got snowed off by the Feb 2023 'Tomato' storms. I helped re-check it in a 4x4 a week earlier, then rode it 8 months later on a 300L after the September earthquake. At this point the riverbed rubble had been churned over and two rockfalls (30.2313, -7.42637 and 30.22987, -7.42678) blocked the shelf road a few kilometres before the riverbed entry point (see triple photo). And fyi another big rock blocks the riverbank track at 30.20458, -7.41067, though a 4x4 might squeeze past this one. So 4x4s take note; first ones through will need to do some very heavy clearing. Bikes note: northbound, after doing the oued it might be tricky to gain speed and traction to climb out onto the riverbank (Pics 1 and 2) to access the shelf road without help. From there, easy enough to the issil plain.
