Itinerary description

DAY 1 - Reykjavik to Ásgarður

First part is the touristic places "near" Reykjavik like the cathedral in the center of the city called Hallgrímskirkja. Remember to buy food and take everything you need. Then drive to Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss. Remember to refill car to the maximum in Geysir, it is the last gas station you'll find in some hundred kms. Have lunch in Geysir or Gullfoss.

Second part of the day, bye bye to tourists... The adventure starts here. From Gullfoss on, you won't see a lot of cars or people, we found only 2 more cars that day. Easy road to follow with not much complication for the rest of the day. Stop where you feel like it to take pictures. No river crossing today. End day near Ásgarður, we planned to camp but wind was +70 km/h, we had to stay inside... the whole house was shaking. Apart from that, not much more to say for day 1.

Welcome to Iceland petrocampers, this is the trip @petrocamp prepared and did on Sept 2015 for 5 days with a Land Rover (super)Defender. We used the app MOTION-X GPS to navigate, it is what works best for us (if you have an iPad Mini [Wifi+3G] it’s a kickass combination). Hope this helps you plan your trip to Iceland!
