Itinerary description

More Anza Borrego Hiking

A 4x4 track along some short hikes. One of the more scenic rides / hikes in the area, it goes through canyons, washes, badlands and palm oasis.

Check road conditions at the visitor center. Start at the S22 Fonds Point exit, east of Borrego springs. First drive all the way up to Fonds Point to enjoy the view of the badlands below. Back to the Short Wash Xing on the right. Take the exit Vista Del Malpais on the right. Park your car and take a short hike downhill. Drive back and continue on Short Wash, next take Palo Verde Wash right. At Xing with cut across Road turn left.
At the Uno Palma Xing turn left and park your car. At this point take the Palm Hike (look for it on this site) one of the most scenic hikes through the badlands. The hike is easier than you would expect and goes cross country along the 2 other palm oasis.

We did this route in March 2009 and it was easy to drive.
But in 2010 we got almost stuck a couple of times and really stuck one time in the deeeep sand. There was way more sand than the year before. Probably because of the rain that year.
