Itinerary description
Easier to come out near Pont Cyfyng, lane has some steep and rocky bits on that side so if you are not prepared for that make sure your not going up it but coming down it. Views are stunning and the Pont-Y-Pan side has a nice hill decent or climb and then it going into some forestry bits.

This trail is exactly as Tom describes! Was helpful to know one end is a lot steeper than the other! Lovely trail.

The start of the lane is quite tricky then easy the rest of the lane
this is part of the Snowdon parks first one way route. it is requested by them that you travel it from dolwydllean to capel curig. if in a motor vehicle this can be confirmed by contacting there head acccess officer Peter Rutherford on 07900267538 or office 01766770274
Did it today was fantastic stunning views from the top. Quite bushy so be prepared to scortch the paintwork but well worth it. I'd say its one of the more difficult in rocky spots but there is a forestry road also.

Did this very nice trail in our Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ78 with rooftop tent about 2,6m hight. From south to north as requested.
It’s true, quite narrow in some parts and the paint will suffer. But nothing major. A few low branches scratched the tent but nothing bad happened there eighter.
Some parts are relatively tricky, but it’s definitely manageable and very thrilling. The foresty part in the last bit was very cool.
It’s definitely worth a ride. We didn’t see anyone else and the weather was superb.

Did the route south to north, in a stock Discovery 3. Some technical challenges on the way down the steep rocky part at the end, but had enough clearance to do it. Definitely pushed me, but great fun to complete!

So I did this route today (Capel curig to Dolwyddelan) in a standard rrsport 2012 with road tyres n fully expected to turn around as their was 6 motocross bikes ahead who thought the same because or the trake going up but it I made it to the top and had a relaxing drive down to Dolwyddelan (apart from needing 2 sort the paint work out when I get home because narrow sections) was a great lane and was shocked the rrsport made it.
Tried to do the trail today and it’s closed right at the start. A fallen tree has take the road with it and too thin to get a car through!! 1st may 2023
Tried to do the trail today and it’s closed right at the start. A fallen tree has take the road with it and too thin to get a car through!! 1st may 2023 we did it reversed instead starting at the finish end and went all the way through the woods at the other end, the start! The reversed start at Boulder hill is great and Janet the Jimny made it look easy. 4” lift, wide oversized tyres, bash plates and 1.6 engine conversion. Needs a spotter to pick the route for the driver and a few places rocked and we had no trouble. Great trail and will be back for more, guaranteed
Attempted this trail today (25/7/23) but it was officially blockaded at both ends by the council!
Still blockaded
Sad to hear that this one’s been closed up for months
